One the common sticking points for many critics in Michael Moore’s anti-war, anti-Bush campaign commercial Fahrenheit 9/11 was how he depicted life in Iraq just prior to the American invasion of March 2003.
According to Moore (see Dave Kopel’s Deceit number 44), U.S. bombing disrupted the ethereal life of kids in Baghdad, who spent their time flying kites.
Well, it looks like bombing Iraq and ending all that kite-flying was the best thing we could have done for the kids of Iraq. And maybe now we need to load up the B-1Bs and send them on a mission to Pakistan.
Thirteen people have been killed and more than 500 injured during an annual kite-flying festival in the eastern Pakistani city of Lahore.
Seven people with severe head injuries died in the city’s General Hospital alone, and about 220 people were admitted with a variety of injuries including broken bones, hospital officials said….
A man was killed by a stray bullet, while another was electrocuted when metal wire used to fly a kite became draped over live electric lines.
And I complain about stupid safety warnings.
