Since the MSM attack on Karl Rove and Anyone To Whom He’s Spoken Since 1980 is underway, and I think Dave over at Nixguy has expressed the sentiments of the conservative side in a thoughtful and reasonable manner. Go read what he said and consider me a ditto on that.
I’ve also heard that Rove should address the issue now and get it behind him, before the press corps goes into full shock-and-awe mode. Laura Ingraham made such a suggestion at the start of her show this morning, and on the surface, it makes sense.
Here’s the one problem I have with the entire thing: most Americans not only don’t know what the media is in an uproar about regarding Rove, I’d be willing to wager that most Americans don’t know who Karl Rove is. Conservative political wonks know who he is because we believe he’s a political god, and the MoveOn/Soros/Democratic Underground/liberal Kool-Aid crowd know who he is because they believe he’s Satan.
Outside of those of us who pay attention to politics, my guess is that most Americans don’t know who Rove is and very likely don’t care. Once the Bush Supreme Court nominee(s) is/are named, the press won’t give a buffalo chip about Rove anyway.
Okay? Move along, now, folks, nothing to see here, show’s over.
I hope you’re right, but in 1972 no one outside Washington knew the names Haldeman, Erlichman, and Dean, either.
I still don’t see evidence that Rove committed a crime. Was Plame a covert agent under the law? No one is addressing that point.
