Here’s your fix.

I believe I’ve just discovered the next point of attack on the pajamadeen by the MSM: bloggers are all junkies.

That’s right. If you’re sitting out there reading this, you’re very likely hooked on Internet usage, according to a research study released by, of all organizations, Yahoo. Assisted by a marketing research company, they tracked people who were deprived of using the ‘Net for two weeks. According to their report, these people became bored and somewhat anti-social.

I’m automatically suspicious of any “research” conducted by any organization that may actually benefit from the results. So I wasn’t surprised to read that Yahoo and the other sponsor, OMD, believe this information will “provide a good opportunity for marketers.” Great, they’re hooked. Let’s go sell them something.

There’s one comment in the story that worries me:

In fact, many noticed that the Internet gives them cover for doing personal activities while creating the impression that they’re working.

I guess I need to remove that Weboggle bookmark off the toolbar.

  1. Pretty funny. I am wondering what the two local CBS affiliates in my area consider me. I’ve been hassling them enough that by now they probably do think i’m a junkie of a different kind… ha ha One is an affiliate (Milwaukee) and the other station (Green Bay) is owned by CBS. I’ve told the station managers that I will only call periodically to find out what they are doing about pressuring headquarters. But also informed them that each bitchy dismissing reaction I get from the people answering their phones, I will pressure their local advertisers. Just to let you know, I’m sure they are feeling the pressure now!!! ha ha ha Pretty funny how much car dealerships will do to get a new car sale!!
